Carol Hennessey's love of the Arabian horse is evident the first time you see her interact with one of the Mares at the farm. They know her as the Giver of Carrots, and she says they fascinate her because it reminds her of when she taught sixth grade and used sociograms to facilitate learning in groups.
"Each horse has a particular personality and a particular friend, just like kids," she says.
Carol and Frank built the Hennessey Arabian farm six years ago. Carol paints in oil and watercolor. She has won many awards painting landscapes and man-made objects, such as bridges, boats and buildings. In 2002 she won Best of Show at the Grosse Point Artist's Association.
Carol and Frank have three grown children: Kate and David, of Tampa, Florida; Frank and Jessica, of Boston, Mass., and Michael and Julie of San Francisco, California. She holds a B.S. from Salem State College.
